TotalEnergies Discovers Major Gas Resources in Danish North Sea

TotalEnergies has announced the discovery of significant gas condensate resources in the Harald field, situated in the Danish North Sea. The exploration well, known as Harald East Middle Jurassic (HEMJ-1X), was drilled 250 kilometers off the west coast of Denmark in shallow waters.

The HEMJ-1X well encountered a substantial 48 meters of net gas condensate pay within a high-quality reservoir. This well will be immediately connected to the existing Harald platform and is expected to commence production before the end of the year, leveraging the capabilities of both the Harald and Tyra facilities.

Kevin McLachlan, Senior Vice President of Exploration at TotalEnergies, commented on the discovery, stating, “The success of the Harald East Middle Jurassic well, located near our Harald facilities in Denmark, demonstrates the strength of our exploration strategy. This new addition at the Harald field will significantly boost Denmark’s energy supply, enhancing our production in the North Sea while aligning with the Danish National Compromise.”

TotalEnergies operates the Danish Underground Consortium, holding a 43.2% working interest in the project. The company collaborates with joint venture partners BlueNord, which holds a 36.8% interest, and Nordsøfonden, with a 20% interest in the consortium. This discovery underscores TotalEnergies’ commitment to exploring and developing sustainable energy resources in the region.
